re:BASE Web Technology Conference

United States / Birmingham

re:BASE is a forward thinking web technology conference with the purpose of building a network of software professionals and educating them on the latest developments in the field.

re:BASE’s name stems from both the sponsoring organization, BASE, and the git rebase command. In git, rebasing is process of rewriting the project history by creating brand new commits for each commit in the original branch. If you are not familiar with git, that simply means taking changes, updates, and improvements that were made by others and incorporating them into your own work. This makes your project history easier to work with and navigate.

We believe this is a great analogy for software development as a whole. The web development community is is constantly innovating; constantly making incremental changes to the way they work, the way technologies are used, the formation of new technologies, and so forth. A core belief within the community is in helping each other with what we have discovered, with what we have learned. Though this collaboration, everyone becomes better at a rate that is faster than the would on their own.

This belief and this analogy is the basis for the re:BASE conference. Taking a community of knowledgeable individuals and then bringing them together to share and grow in an effort to move our cities, our regions, and society as a whole forward.
