The Croatian Ministry of Sea, Transport and Infrastructure tasked us to build an iOS and Android app that will give mariners the software tools necessary to safely traverse the Adriatic Sea. The two main challenges were to provide reliable communication to emergency rescue services and to enable interactive geo maps with 72-hour weather forecasts. We needed to create an app that will enable smooth sailing, so to speak. The app provides everything needed for safe sailing on the Adriatic Sea. Information on maritime infrastructure, rules of conduct on the sea, geo-located ports, harbors, nautical anchorage, and weather forecasts tailored for mariners and sailors.One particular thing we’re very proud of is the one-click distress call feature. By clicking the button, the user automatically contacts rescue services and sends them all the relevant data about their position and vessel. Adirect, toll-free line to the search and rescue service – 195, providing information on current location. Maritime violation report (with an option to attach photos and/or videos). Interactive, detailed weather forecasts (air temperature, wind speed and direction, air pressure, waves, cloud cover, UV index). Information on navigation rules (vessel equipment, the order in ports and at sea, avoiding a collision at sea, marine environment .protection, information for foreign vessels, divers and swimmers, radio service and radio notices, and maritime marks).Easy access to all public services as well as all ports and anchorages contacts on the Adriatic sea. iOS and Android native development, GRIB API, OpenStreet & Google Maps.With more than 10,000 downloads, nIS app is one of the most popular mariner/weather apps in Croatia. It is being used daily by tourists and locals alike.
